EACH YEAR, DURING THE SHARE LENT CAMPAIGN we hold Soup Fest. It didn't start out that way. It started as a simpler seder meal, but because of the enthusiasm of our soup makers, it blossomed into something bigger. Each year our donating soup makers create meatless soups, sold on a per bowl basis. Here's a list of some of the varieties:
Preparing to serve the lineup
Nancy makes sure that servers have everything they need, and understand how it will work. This is a parish project.
Ladling out the soup
A parishioner redeems a ticket for one of the seven soups we had to offer this day. Mary Lou fills a bowl.
Always a hit at Soup Fest, Nella prepares to serve her fabulous Stracciatella.
A family enjoys their soup
With seven different soups, each member of a family can enjoy their own favourites. One bowl is never enough.
Old friends enjoy their soup
Soup Fest is a social occasion. Bob and Bruce used to work together, but here they swap stories over a bowl of soup.
It was delicious
Bridget proudly shows that she ate the whole thing; and it was delicious! Next decision: which soup do I try next?
