Currently, we have 110 members in the St. Luke’s Council. Total membership across Canada is over 110,000 women strong.

While your presence at meetings is significant, we realize that in this busy world it may not always be possible for you to attend. Be assured that your interest and support is as important as your attendance!

Come and join our CWL Council – new members are welcome. Membership is open to all women aged sixteen and older.

To join, come out to our monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of every month (September to June), submit the registration fee in the envelope included with you weekly envelopes, register during our January campaign, or call the church during office hours at 905-560-1551.

Your annual membership gives you the option to be an active member of a supporting member who will pray for the wonderful work done by the League and add your vote to the other Canadian members on issues presented to our government.

While many individuals are active throughout the community doing many good works, spiritual involvement includes:

  • May Crowning
  • Reciting the Rosary before weekend Masses during May and October
  • Mass for the Deceased in February
  • Mass and prayers before and at each meeting
  • Mass Cards are sent on the death of family members
  • Visits and flowers are made to the sick and elderly
  • Honour Guard for ladies of the parish buried from St. Luke’s
  • World Day of Prayer — CWL members attend and many are involved in preparing the program

Friendship Group

The Friendship Group meets most Wednesdays from September to June. We gather for two hours (1-3) to work on various projects to support local, parish or overseas needs. We work together using their individual and collective talents in a social setting; all the time cultivating friendships, having fun, chatting, laughing, and enjoying learning from one another.

Each week a members take turns at providing treats for our snack time, and we celebrate birthdays with a small gift. We have two lunch outings a year—in June and December—and enjoy our annual trip to Casino Niagara.

Our projects include knitted goods, which we donate to various agencies in the fall an winter. We create knitted squares, which we put together as blankets for a cancer centre. Currently we are working on knitted ‘knockers’ (a knitted prosthesis,) for breast cancer survivors. And once in a while, we take on the project of making a quilt.

And then there is our annual fall knitted goods sale. Money raised from this event is donated to the church, and other worthy causes.

You are always welcome to come and be our friend. There is no annual registration fee and no weekly dues.

Knights of Columbus

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to Catholic men who are at least 18 years old. They meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month (September to June), after Mass, in the Hinsperger Centre.

Parish Council

An advisory body to the Pastor, selected by the Pastor and the Parishioners, to meet and support the needs of the Parish.

Beside each member’s name is the date their term expires (in brackets), and their current portfolio.

Circle of Arts & Crafts

This group meets the first Wednesday of each month, at the Hinsperger Centre, 7 to 9 pm.

The multi-talented members crochet, knit, paint, share recipes, quilt, make costume jewellery, sew, scrapbook, card making, floral arrangements and create seasonal crafts.

Also contributes to the community; i.e., face painting at local events. In 2019, the group made 420 crochet/knitted squares, plus 4 afghans for Hamilton Cancer Centre.

In 2020, the group will again donate another package to the Cancer Centre, exceeding the previous year.

Come share your talents and learn new crafts while creating new friendships.

For more information, call the parish office or call Paola at 905-870-5072.

Youth Group

To the youth of St. Luke’s,What would you like to see in the Youth pages of this web site?

In January 2003, this web site was started for the parish, and that includes you. As a young member of our parish community you can do things and you can make a difference. You are invited to contribute to the growth of our faith community.

Below is a list of suggested topics we can cover on this page. Remember, the list may not be complete. Look at them, give them some thought, then tell us what you think!

ALTAR SERVERS – The main role of the altar server is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass.

CATHOLIC CLICKS FOR YOUTH – We’ve listed a few important ones below.

SERVER AWARDS – Awarded annually by the bishop.

YOUTH MINISTRY – Understanding that prayer and liturgy are integral parts of our life.

YOUTH GROUP– Currently inactive.

SOCIAL JUSTICE – The call to justice and discipleship.

YOU CAN HELP – we have choirs and servers, but there are many other opportunities.

ENVELOPES – Through Tots to Teens, regular or special collection envelopes, where possible, you can contribute to the work of the church.

MEMBERSHIPS – Did you know that if you are old enough, there are several groups you can join?

CONFIRMATION – Important information for youth who want to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation

You have an appointed representative on the Parish Council. She/He is there to bring the opinion and voice of youth into Parish Council meetings. She/He is there for a one (1) year term, with possible renewals.

C.Y.O.

Catholic Youth Organization – The C.Y.O. provides leadership training, development and opportunities; camping and athletics programs; youth ministry, and social justice influence. These are teen-directed and teen-centred programs and services.

Heralds of the Gospel

The Heralds of the Gospel were approved by the Pope in 2001 as a private association comprised mainly of young people who practice celibacy and dedicate their entire lives to the apostolate.
